Season 1: Trial by Fire

A true-crime anthology podcast investigating corruption and negligence of law enforcement in Cascade County, Montana, a county that is known for its heavy-handed police work as well as the incarceration and harassment of innocent civilians. Season One titled ”Trial By Fire” looks into the killing of Michael Hanson while he was tending to a friend’s property in the middle of winter. Airing the 1st and 15th beginning in October.

Nestled on the edge…

…of the Rocky Mountains lies the county of Cascade, Montana. With a population of 84,000 people, you wouldn’t consider it a booming metropolis rife with crime. However, Cascade has a history of producing one of the highest number of exonerations per capita in the entire country; meaning that the percentage of innocent people locked up for crimes they didn’t commit is suspicious, to say the least.

Is it a lack of proper law enforcement techniques? Are the civilians unruly enough to explain the police overreach? Or is it something else entirely? This show and podcast will attempt to shed light on the disturbing trend that has robbed citizens of their freedom, their future, and even their lives.

Each season of the show will focus on a different incident between residents and the police. We will present all of the information that we acquire in the most honest and helpful way that we can. Our goal is to allow you to draw your own conclusions to determine if justice was served in the beautiful big sky county of Cascade.

We publish all documents related with our investigation, including government documents that are public information but are only available to acquire in-person. If you’d like to conduct your own analysis of the evidence, we encourage you to do so! You can follow the link below.
